OK, so why are we doing this? Why are we even considering a forum for lesbian youth? Why are we embarking on this journey?

WHY NOT!?

Our goal in producing this event is to provide a forum where lesbian youth, their concerns, their peers, and their allies can be heard...'Cause they sure haven't had one before.

More often than not, youth programs are geared towards young gay men and their funding only covers young gay men. Well, what about the girls? They are as much a part of the LGBTQ community as young gay boys.

C.I.T.Y. x1 proudly presents "The L Youth Forum (Volume 1: It's About Time!)" on Saturday, February 25th, 2006 in the City of West Hollywood. This will be a groundbreaking forum for lesbian youth (14-24) and their allies. The two-hour forum will be free and will be followed by a two-hour social for everyone to mingle.

Our group realizes that the lesbian youth demographic is underserved and often "left out". To help increase lesbian youth visibility, C.I.T.Y. x1 will go beyond just producing one forum. Instead, the "L Youth Forum" will be a three-part series, with Volumes 2 and 3 taking place in the Summer and in the Fall. Our goal in creating this series to listen, address, and take action with the issues revolving around lesbian youth and their future in our community.

Throughout the year, C.I.T.Y. x1 will also continue its popular GIRL TALK group. GIRL TALK is a monthly emotional support group for lesbian youth. This free group is open to lesbian youth (14-24) and their allies. Topics for this two-hour group include politics, dating, sex, the entertainment industry, art, and more. The next GIRL TALK meeting is scheduled for February. Stay tuned to CITYx1.com for date and location.

Anyways, that's why we are are having the forum. Have any thoughts, comments, questions, or suggestions? Well, e-mail us at girltalk@cityx1.com!
