Our Past Holiday Events

This year’s "MJ Holiday Tribute" holiday youth social marks the 6th year that the C.I.T.Y. x1 Youth Group has produced a holiday event in December...BUT it was originally known as “The Egg Nogg Youth Social” and has been held in all sorts of locations throughout West Hollywood. The annual tradition known as the "Egg Nogg Youth Social" began back in December of 2004. Much like the "ThanXgiving Youth Social", the Egg Nogg was created by youth for youth. The purpose of the event was to give LGTBQ youth and their allies a safe place to socialize in, enjoy some snacks, and have a good time during the month of December.
The original event was held on December 17th, 2004 at the Hybrid Cafe in West Hollywood. The Egg Nogg was actually a "double-event", as the youth organized a Crystal Meth Forum that dealt with issues revolving around youth and the drug. Right after the event, the social started.
Representatives from the City of West Hollywood, members of various community organizations, and even the legendary Cleve Jones (founder of the AIDS Memorial Quilt) came down to the event. We did not know then that this would become an annual tradition of ours. The seeds of this event were planted here!

Going into its second year, the Egg Nogg Youth Social was held at Plummer Park on Saturday, December 17th, 2005 (exactly one year after the original event). Over 100 people attended the event and enjoyed live entertainment, free giveaways (provided by the Trevor Project), special guests, and even tricycle races!
Some of the holiday treats consisted of cookies, pies, brownies, vanilla dips, cake, donuts, and of course....EGG NOGG!

The 2006 edition of Egg Nogg Youth Social was a nice gathering with friends and community. Youth from as far as the San Gabriel Valley showed up to the event and enjoyed all of the great (and free) junk food that we had as well as music, community resources, and a lil' dancing. |
