Created
in 2003, Peer Party is the portion of the L.A. Pride
Festival where youth 24 and under can express themselves
and socialize with their peers in West Hollywood's biggest
event of the year. 2006 will mark Peer Party's fourth
straight year as part of the L.A. Pride Festival; below
is a recap of the first three years:
 2003
The first installment of Peer Party in 2003 was a major
accomplishment for youth in the City of West Hollywood.
This was the first time in CSW's history that an area
was allocated just for youth. Several youth organizations
took part in this first event. Youth in attendance enjoyed
a variety of games, resources, a live DJ, and had an
opportuni- ty to socialize with their peers. Amoeba
music was a sponsor for the first Peer Party.

 2004
The second Peer Party helped establish the event as
an ongoing tradition. Sponsored by Bank of America,
Peer Party 2 was another great gathering from youth
all over Southern California. This Peer Party had more
of an inarts and craftsln approach, as the Peer Party
2 Committee recruited several youth artists from the
community to participate in the event.

 2005
Peer Party in 2005 was taken to a whole new level. A
spe- cial contest, titled "The West Hollywood Idol
Contest", was held over a two-day period. This
event featured 8 talented youth who showcased their
singing abilities. Several organ- izations, celebrities,
and politicians showed their support for Peer Party.
Additionally, Peer Party also had a colorful Parade
entry on Sunday.

 2006
Peer Party 4 promises to be bigger than the first three.
Plans are currently underway to invite youth organizations,
distribute literature on the event, and to produce a
dynam- ic parade entry. This year the West Hollywood
Idol contest returns and will once again showcase talented
youth com- peting for the main prize. Stay tuned for
upcoming details about this exciting event for youth!
